Itinerant readers in Tulum

November 01, 2019

Reading allows us to communicate with others, our imagination grows and even it gives us ideas to change our reality. Tulum is a city in development therefore cannot guarantee access to reading for everyone.

So there is a civil association that has taken action on the matter and seeks to overcome the gap and turn this paradise site into a reading place. “Letras Itinerantes” visits communities with limited resources in Quintana Roo to promote reading as a tool for education and life.

Thanks to this non-governmental organization, and in collaboration with them, at Hip Hotel we are pleased to mention that we have supported so that more than 25 workshops are held in 10 Mayan communities of Quintana Roo. More than 935 children between pre-school, primary and middle-school levels have been the beneficiaries of these workshops as well as the delivery of 818 books.

Ana y José Hotel another socially responsible and beautiful hotel in Tulum, has also joined this cause. We believe that it is important to support these causes to generate a culture of reading that allows for the formation of new empathic and thinking generations.

We are also excited to think that we are contributing to children who do not have the opportunity to have a book nearby can do so and enjoy doors and windows that can be open through reading.
